Michael McDonald and Chaka Khan to launch US co-headlining tour in June

Danny Clinch; Courtesy of Island RecordsEx-Doobie Brothers singer/keyboardist Michael McDonald and funk/soul legend Chaka Khan will team up this summer for a joint U.S. tour.

The trek kicks off June 20 in Huber Heights, Ohio, and is plotted out through an August 4 concert in Rohnert Park, California. Among the shows are performances on July 6 at the Ravinia Festival near Chicago and on July 31 at the famed Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.

McDonald also has a slew of headlining dates leading up to his trek with Khan, as well as some solo shows on off nights during the trek. Chaka’s schedule features a couple of pre-tour headlining concerts, as well as appearances at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on May 5 and the Milwaukee Summerfest on July 3.

Khan’s performance will be in support of her new studio album Hello Happiness, which will be released this Friday, February 15. The record is Chaka’s first since 2007’s Grammy-winning Funk This. McDonald’s most recent album, Wide Open, was released in 2017.
