A top-notch roster of artists is taking part in the latest Experience Hendrix tour, which kicked off last night in Pompano Beach, FL. Celebrating the music of the late Jimi Hendrix, and endorsed by his estate, this year’s outing has its largest scope yet, with 30 dates.
As previously reported, the featured artists — all of whom cite Hendrix as a major influence — include Joe Satriani, Jonny Lang, Billy Cox of Hendrix’s Band of Gypsys, Dave Mustaine of Megadeth, Eric Johnson, Zakk Wylde, Dweezil Zappa, and a slew of others.
As previously reported, Satriani, who’s a member of the Sammy Hagar-fronted supergroup Chickenfoot, has formed a power trio especially for the 2019 Experience Hendrix Tour. It includes King’s X singer/bassist dUg Pinnick and longtime John Fogerty drummer and renowned session musician Kenny Aronoff.
Special guests will also make appearances, including Taj Mahal, Eric Clapton guitarist Doyle Bramhall II, and members of Los Lobos.
The Experience Hendrix tour will wrap up April 6 in Wallingford, CT.
