Elvis Costello to perform at Americana Awards in Nashville

Americana Music AssociationElvis Costello will hit the stage at the 18th annual Americana Honors & Awards ceremony next month.

The musician is performing at the event, held September 11 in Nashville. The lineup also includes folk icon John Prine, R&B and gospel legend Mavis Staples and Grammy Award-winning musician Brandi Carlile.

In addition to performing, Costello will also receive the Americana Honors & Awards Lifetime Achievement Award. The “Alison” singer — who has 25 studio albums to his credit, along with another nine collaborations with other artists — is one of four artists being feted with the honor, and the only rocker.

The event is happening during a lull in Costello’s schedule. He wrapped the first leg of his tour with The Imposters earlier this month, and will hit the road again in October.

Selections from the awards ceremony will be broadcast on a special edition of Austin City Limits, airing November 23 on PBS.
