September 11, 1971: “The Jackson 5ive”—a cartoon based on Motown’s Jackson 5—debuts on ABC. The voices of Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, Michael, and Tito are portrayed by voice actors but the songs are performed by the real band (similar to The Beatles cartoon from the 1960’s). The show lasts just two seasons, but is re-released in syndication in 1984-1985 at the height of Michael’s solo career.
