Chicago lines up 2020 summer tour with Rick Springfield; band taking part in NYC Christmas tree lighting

Courtesy of Live Nation EntertainmentFresh off an appearance at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Chicago has announced plans for a joint 2020 North American tour with pop-rock great Rick Springfield. The trek kicks off June 12 in Concord, California, and is mapped out through an August 1 concert in the Chicago suburb Rosemont, Illinois.

Tickets go on sale to the general public this Friday, December 6th, at 10 a.m. local time via LiveNation.com.

Prior to the tour with Springfield, Chicago will play a previously announced eight-date Las Vegas residency at The Venetian Theater running from late February to mid-March, and also has more than a dozen other U.S. headlining shows lined up.

Chicago’s currently promoting their new holiday album, Chicago Christmas, which debuted at #1 on Billboard‘s Holiday Album Sales chart.  The 11-track collection features seven original songs, a pair of holiday favorites and one non-Christmas-themed cover — the Burt Bacharach and Hal David classic “What the World Needs Now Is Love.”

Meanwhile, the band will be in New York City on Wednesday, December 4, to perform at the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting, which will air live on NBC at 8 p.m. ET. Other music stars taking part in the event include Gwen Stefani, John Legend, Brett Eldredge, Idina Menzel, Lea Michele and Ne-Yo.

As for Springfield, he’s playing four co-headlining dates this month in the northeastern U.S. with Richard Marx, and has several other concerts on his late-2019 and early-2020 itinerary. Check out his full schedule at RickSpringfield.com.
